Ready for Halloween?

Are you ready for Halloween?  What are you going to be?  I'm almost ready.... I just have one more thing to make for my costume!  I like to make my own costumes if possible!  Have you ever noticed how expensive the costumes are at costume places and you get it out of the bag and it's paper thin and just cheap looking!?!  So why not make your own...you'll probably spend less money and have a much better costume!

This year I'm going as Rosie the Riveter!

Since we just bought a house and have so many things that we want to do to it, I was on a strict budget...as in, I didn't want to spend over $20, so I needed a costume that I could make for cheap and use items I already have!  Rosie fit the bill! I started googling "Rosie the Riveter Costume" to get inspiration and I found a lot, but the look I'm going for is this one...

I got a blue piece of foam board and yellow poster board at Hobby Lobby and I'm going to make a sign like the one above.  I haven't decided how I'm going to attach it to me yet...I bought some elastic, thinking I would make it so that it can go around my arms and be on my back.
Not sure what I'll do just yet...any suggestions?
Then I went to a local thrift store to find a denim shirt, I found one for $3!  Score!  I have a red scarf and I'm just going to wear jeans and carry a wrench or some tools in my pocket!
Total cost of my costume is under $15!

So...do you wonder where I'm going to wear this costume?  I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex and each year there is this HUGE street party on Cedar Springs...in the gayborhood, as we like to call it.  It is SO much fun and you see the most outrageous costumes!!!  People literally work on their costumes all year long!  It's crazy!  You see some really awesome costumes and some that are questionable...below are some fun pictures from past years at the parade!

I took my honey for the first time a few years ago...it was definitely an experience for him and he said he'll
stick to deer hunting!  He does not care to go back.  Here he is, we were lumberjacks this year.  Another homemade costume!

We found us a group of lumberjacks!  They really liked My Honey!

An example of the over the top costumes!

There is a person in that tree!  Crazy!  It took them forever to walk down the street!  I'm a goddess this year, I made this costume too.

 I think this is 2007...

 Edward Scissor Hands!  Awesome costume!

I'll post pictures of my costume next week! I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween weekend!!

Enjoy...The Curvy Life!
