Cold Weather Craft Day-Tissue Paper Pom-Pom's

I'm helping throw a baby shower for my sister in law in April...I've gotten all my ideas from several different blogs!!  One of the ideas I've seen repeatedly is the Tissue Paper Pom-Pom's from Martha Stewart's website.  I've been wanting to test out making one for a few weeks and today being a "Snow Day" presented the perfect opportunity...after all, I needed SOMETHING to keep my mind off wanting to bake cookies, chili, etc...So I made one...

Step 1
Take at least 7 pieces of tissue paper (I used 9) and fold accordion style, tie a piece of florist wire around the center (I didn't have any so used a ribbon...I think wire would be better!)

Step 2
Cut tissue on each end in a point or round (I did the point and definitely needed sharper scissors!)

Step 3
Fan out one end and begin to pull each piece of tissue out toward you...I recommend alternating pulling one piece toward you, one piece in the other direction...I realized this on the second section! :(

TADA...Finished Project
I took a piece of ribbon and folded it in half, looped it around the center of the pom-pom and tied a knot.

A few tips I learned:
  • Use thicker tissue paper...not cheap tissue paper from Dollar Tree like I did!
  • Alternate the way you pull out each section, one toward you, one away from you
  • Don't pull to hard or you'll rip the paper-like I did!
I think it turned out pretty good considering how THIN the paper I used was...and it took me about 10 minutes!!!

Check out these awesome blogs for great crafting ideas for showers, birthday parties, etc.:

There are so many more blogs out there...but these are a few of my favs!

Enjoy...The Curvy Life!
