Saw It. Pinned It. Did It.

Hi Ya'll!

I teased a few of my recent Pinterest projects on Instagram this weekend and now I'm ready to link up for Saw It. Pinned It. Did It. with Beautiful Mess and Keep Calm and Carry On. 

I found this pin this summer, actually, but I am just now writing about it.  It's the simplest dog shampoo and IT WORKS!  It's just Dawn and Vinegar mixed together.  I think just Dawn works too, but maybe there's something special about the vinegar, too?  I don't know.  I just follow directions.  

It works to kill fleas.  I used it on Sadie Mae this summer and she had a few fleas on her from being outside and those suckers (ha, no pun intended) were running to the top of her head trying to get away and then dropped dead.  Is it weird that this thrilled me?  I hate fleas.  I give my dogs flea medicine every month but inevitably they end up with a few on them when they come inside during the summer.  Gotta love HOT as HELL Texas summers.  Try it.  You will love it.  I just  mixed up a big bottle to keep under the kitchen cabinet.

Next up...hanging all your tall boots.  Genius, no? 

I had The Fiance hang a closet rod down low and bought some baby pant hangers and thought this would be perfect.  Look how nice this girls boots look.

Then there's my version. 

A couple of things.  The rod needed to be hung higher.  Our house was built in 1964, before they realized women needed a huge closet of. her. own.  My closet is teensy tiny and I have very little storage space for shoes, hence the shoe organizer thing that hangs down in the way. The Fiance hung the rod as high as he could.  So my boots don't quite "hang".  But all in all, it looks much nicer than all my boots piled on top of each other.  Side note: I desperately need a new camera and a new phone.  This picture is crap.

Maybe if I removed the shoe rail (seriously 1964 closets, you suck) they would "hang".

I have been wanting to try this next Pin for a long time!  It's actually like at the very bottom of my "DIY" board on Pinterest...so you see, a LONG time! 

On Saturday The Fiance cleaned the entire kitchen and said "will you just clean out the microwave, it's really gross!"  I said "YES, I actually  have something I've been wanting to try!"

Here's what you do.  Pour some water and vinegar in a microwave safe bowl.  Hit 5 minutes on the microwave.  Go bathe your dog or make a cocktail...or both.  Dog bathing usually makes me need a cocktail.  

 I used a small glass bowl and cheapo vinegar.

 Ew, see how nasty our microwave was? 

This is completely The Fiance's fault. 

I always cover my stuff.

 I waited about 2 minutes after the timer went off and carefully opened the door.

See, the way this works is it creates a steam and "steams" off all that stuck on food.

Use an oven mitt to remove the bowl b/c it's HOT!

I grabbed a sponge I use for dishes and all that nasty food just wiped right off.

No scrubbing.

Ok.  I may have scrubbed one or two stubborn areas but really, it came clean in seconds!

If you've ever tried to clean a microwave that has a lot of nasty stuck on food, you will be in. love. with this.

Hi ya'll!  Happy Labor Day!  I hope everyone has spent their day doing anything but labor! I just folded a little laundry but other than that, I've been labor free!  I hate laundry!  I'm this person...

I digress...my post is not about laundry! It's about Pinterest and a couple of projects I finally  got around to actually doing...not just pinning!  Who loves organization?  I DO!   I think one of the main things I love about organization is shopping for all the neat things to organize my crap!  I get giddy going into The Container Store or even down the isles at Wal-Mart with bins, shelves and other amazing things that could be used to organize.  But I usually just look and get overwhelmed because I have so many areas in my home that need to be cleaned out and organized that I walk away empty handed and still un-organized.  You see, I have a problem.  I'm a "stasher" as in I stash crap in the first available drawer to get the clutter out of the way.  All this results in is random crap stashed all over the house.  For example, you might find a lint roller in my china hutch with a few extra Christmas ornaments that didn't make it into their proper box last year. Who does that?  It's rather lazy.  GUILTY! While I had every intention to organize my entire house this weekend it just didn't happen.  I did, however, get my kitchen organized and my closet (somewhat) organized...I will be finishing the closet later...I didn't buy enough supplies for the other project.

SOOOO...After all my rambling are you ready to see what I did?  First I'll show you the Pinterest post where I got the idea, then I'll share my version! 

Project 1 - Organize my ridiculous amount of scarves.  You would think I live in Montana, not Texas with all the scarves I have.  I need help.

I had all my scarves stuffed into a basket and to be honest,

 I didn't even realize all the CUTE scarves I owned.  It was like Christmas! 

 I'm gonna be one stylin chick this fall!

I bought the cheapest shower curtain rings at Wal-Mart, like $1.97 for 12.  Thank God, I bought two sets because I used every. single. one. and needed more. :/  Scarf Intervention?  Yeah, I might need one.

 I might eventually move them to two wooden hangers so the hanger doesn't "sag".

All I needed was a box of these Command Hooks.  They were $8.88 a box.

  A little high but worth it for how easy it made this project!

Here is how I had them before.  It was a constant fight to find the one cup or spoon I needed!

I will admit, the first time I opened the door all the clanging scared the crap out of me...

but when I decided to make cookies last night it was glorious!



I had two more projects I attempted but didn't go so smoothly.  I'm going to need my Honey's help on them and we didn't make it to Lowe's today.  Soon I will have organized boots and cleaning supplies!  I'll show ya'll when I get done!

Who's motivated to get organized now?  Seriously, ya'll, this only took me 30 minutes to do both!  I also organized my spices and pantry but there's nothing fancy to show you.  It's just super pretty to look at now!

This is MAJOR!

I have some big news for ya'll!

Oh and Hi....since I haven't blogged in oh, FOR-EV-ER!

So...you ready for the big, huge, awesome news?? 

 I. AM. ENGAGED. 

Yep, My Honey finally popped that long awaited question that I had pretty much decided my ears would never hear! 

Here's the story.

We were on our way to a family reunion in the Texas Hill Country, which just happens to be our favorite part of Texas!  My Honey had suggested that we take our own car and take the longer, scenic route.  I agreed, as we always like taking back roads because you just get to see so much more of the beautiful state of Texas!  We had reached the Guadalupe River and had gone over several crossings when he suggested that we stop off at one and stretch our legs and see if we found any cool rocks.  Again, I wasn't suspicious in the least because he likes to get a cool rock everywhere we go and we had been on the road for hours.  So he pulls off at a crossing and there's this beautiful water fall just under the bridge.  We climb down there and all I can think is "I'm going to fall, this is much steeper than it looked and SNAKES, there are probably snakes everywhere around us and why is there grass touching my leg?  SNAKES!"  I'm terrified of snakes, if you can't tell.

We finally got to a more open area and I was calming down about the tall grass and mounds of snakes that were likely all around us when I noticed My Honey was acting kind of nervous.  Weird!  I really started getting suspicious when he took a "self pic" with me and smiled!  He NEVER does that!  It usually takes 5 times before I can get him to be serious!

Then he started back toward the car and I was more than ready to get out of that "snake infested" area!  Then he stops and says "WHAT'S THAT?" and I freak out because I just knew it was a snake!  I screamed and jumped and just freaked out in general.  When I turned around My Honey was on one knee.  Then I REALLY freaked out!!!!  The moment that I had dreamt about for 3 years was finally happening!  It was the single happiest moment of my life!  He said "I'm really nervous but 'Will you marry me'"?  He said that he wished he had taken a picture so that he could show everyone the look on my face.  He said it was perfect.  Of course,  I was in shock and said nothing so he finally said "well, will you?"  That's when I snapped out of my haze and screamed "YES! Yes, I will marry you!" and then jumped into his arms and then he said "well, here try it on!"  haha!  I said "no, you put it on me!" and it fit PERFECTLY!  It was the best moment and it was just he and I and I wouldn't have it any other way.  I get to marry my best friend, my soul mate, the love of my life!  I still have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming!

We went to dinner that night and my SIL and cousin/MOH surprised me with a "bride" tank and they had on their "bridesmaid" tanks! 

 It was the perfect end to the perfect day!

Of course, since I've been dreaming about getting married to this wonderful man for 3 years, you KNOW I have the wedding pretty much planned out!  How can you not with Pinterest? (follow me!)  I can't wait to share all of our the details with ya'll!!  We have LOTS of DIY things planned and I will be sharing each project on my blog!  Here are 2 teasers!  Can you guess what we're going to do with them?

And you know, I'm always on some new diet/fitness kick and I AM doing something right now but I am convinced that the minute I blog about it I jinx myself...so I will talk about it....but I'm saving it for 15-20 lbs from now!

Rosie the Riveter wishes you a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

So I posted last week about my Halloween plans and told you all that I was dressing up as Rosie the Riveter.  My costume turned out perfect!!  And the best part ya'll...it only cost me $15 to make the whole thing!!  You can't beat that!  Are you ready to see the pictures?  Here goes...

 I am very pleased with how well my poster turned out.  All it is, is a navy blue piece of foam board from Hobby Lobby, a yellow poster board, also Hobby Lobby and white card stock was used for the letters.  I free-handed the "voice bubble" for the lettering.  For the letters I blew up a picture of the poster from the Internets and printed out each word on a separate piece of paper, then cut those out, traced them and had clean white letters.  It took me about 10 minutes to make!  EASY!!

Now for the fun part...all the pictures I took at the Cedar Springs Street Party.  I'm only posting the PG-13 pictures...you'd be amazed what people wear down there.  They use it as an excuse to wear just their undies...which I find weird! :)

 This was awesome!  Harry and Voldemort!  The Voldemort guy was pretty scary up close!

 I couldn't get a good picture of this one...it's "The Hungry Monster" from the WW's commercials.  Fellow dieters will appreciate this one!

 Another one I had trouble getting a good picture of...this guy was on stilts and as you can see, taller than the firetruck.  He was with a group of scary clowns.  I hate clowns!!  Probably why I didn't get a good picture, I was scared to get too close!
